Flow batteries are electrochemical system where the energy is stored in a solution or suspension ( electrolyte ) separated from the contact points of electrical output ( electrode ) . The main advantage of such batteries is that they can store a lot of energy as it depends on the volume of electrolyte stored in the tanks . The power depends on the electrode area. Are fully rechargeable and modular batteries, stored energy and power are independent.
The BAT- FLU project was created with the aim of joining forces most relevant research groups in Spain to gain visibility and be able to bring this technology to society. BAT- FLU is the network of excellence on flow batteries ( ref: ENE2015-71935 – REDT ) funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness to promote frontier research and the challenges of society.
